Will Poulter All Set To Play Evil Clown “Pennywise”
In an upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's “It”, British actor Will Poulter is all set to play the character of evil monster “Pennywise”. Even though Poulter is only 22 years old, his career seems to be on a high. He just finished shooting for the film “The Revenant” directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu in which he plays a robber who leaves the character of Leonardo DiCaprio dead after he gets mauled by a bear.
The horror novel written by Stephen King was adapted into a TV series in 1991 and starred John Ritter and Tim Curry in the lead roles. But a film version of the novel was never put into development considering the size of the 1986 novel which ran over 900 pages. But the director of True Detective, Cary Fukunaga has finally managed to make a film adaptation of the novel. The report is that it will be split into two feature films, with the first movie following the protagonists as children and the second one focusing on them as adults. Poulter is said to be more than ready to play the villainous lead.
The novel follows the lives of a group of seven misfit children who call themselves “The Losers Club”. These children are terrorized by an evil monster that possesses the power of shape shifting. He mostly assumes the form of a male clown known as “Pennywise” The Dancing Clown. Poulter has certainly graduated from doing low budget British flicks to working with many Hollywood A-listers. With movies like “We're the Millers” and “The Maze Runner” already in his kitty let’s see what he brings to the character of Pennywise.
