Panic Now & Avoid The Rush i used to have a column in Rap Pages Magazine back in the late 90’s. The column was called "From Tha Kamps". i’d named it this to signify that the knowledge dispensed was developed in the Koncentration Kamps ("prisons") across the empire. i’d written a piece in the From Tha Kamps called Panic Now & Avoid The Rush in response to everyone going ballistic over the Y2K fear of "end of the world" scenarios, as well as, "return of christ" fantasies & moreover, massive computer crashes. None of this happened then as i predicted it wouldn’t. i’m reminded here of the classic Public Enemy joint, "Don’t Believe The Hype". Trust me, it applies here in the midst of the so-called 2012 end of the world trip. Yes, the Mayan calendar, as well as the Khemetian ("Egyptian") calendar end in what would be the equivalent of 2012. But here’s what we need to pay attention to, as i pointed out in the From Tha Kamps piece in regards to Y2K: It is only going to be 2012 in the christian, i.e. european/gregorian calendar. Meaning, since euro-christians have colonized the planet & established themselves, they’ve brought into existence their time line. Which is to say that what is referred to as 2008 A.D. in christian nations (& their many colonies) is the year 5768 for people of the Jewish faith. Similarly, it is 1428 A.H. in Arab countries & for those of the Islamic faith. China, similarly, has it’s own time line & year. Timelines & years of development are established & driven by cultural & religious doctrine. So, what we, under euro-christian time parameters, see & are believing to be the year 2008 A.D. is not going to be 2008 in say, the Mayan calendar or the Khemetian because they were not christians & didn’t make their development as the europeans have. Moreover, it must be pointed out, the Mayan & Khemetian world effectively "ended" with european conquest. This is essentially why we are believing its’ 2008 A.D.. Both the Mayans & the Khemetian civilizations pre-date the euro-christians by centuries. But if you just want to believe the hype, why not panic now & avoid the rush of 2012? The "end of the world", so to speak, is global warming, depletion of the ozone layer, the strangling of the planet by capitalism, one-world government mentality, military aggression, wars on women & children, famine, dis-ease, unemployment, homelessness, euro-fascism, government surveillance, koncentration kamps, the death penalty, child abuse & a host of other ills that we could point to as the "end of the world". For some cultures, like those in Afrika, the indigenous here in amerika, those in south amerika & some in europe, the world has long since "ended" thru genocide & colonial wars. So, my advice: Don’t get caught up in what "might" (but believe won’t) happen, rather lets deal with what we are faced with, indeed being decimated by, Now. Otherwise, it could very well mean the end of the world! Can’t Stop Won’t Stop! Sanyika Shakur
